KnowMyHealth is the solution FollowMyHealth® has created to address the patient education requirement for meaningful use. The education must be available for problems, medications, and lab results.
FollowMyHealth addresses this in two ways:
FollowMyHealth employs the Infobutton Standard by displaying the Infobutton icon next to any condition or medication that has corresponding education through Medline Plus. On the Results screen, Infobutton displays next to any result that has relevant education where the source system has also supplied a LOINC code with the result. Clicking the Infobutton launches specific, easy to read education from the National Institue of Health, the National Library of Medicine. All educational materials may be printed or e-mailed by the patient when utilizing the Infobutton.
MedlinePlus® is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
FollowMyHealth also presents all relevant articles from MedlinePlus in a single list on the Home screen. KnowMyHealth is a new widget in the App Center that exists for all patients with a FollowMyHealth account. All educational materials can be printed or emailed by the patient from KnowMyHealth. KnowMyHealth contains a Search tool, which searches matches by name only (not article content). Clicking on any item in the KnowMyHealth app will launch the associated education from MedlinePlus. Only information that is relevant to the patient through connection of the ICD-9 and SNOMED codes will be present in the KnowMyHealth app.
Please note: If you wish to search for a condition, medication, etc. that is not a part of your medical record, you may do so by going to the MedlinePlus website. The search function within KnowMyHealth only searches within your medical record.
Note: The KnowMyHealth App will not be included in the drop down menu under "+ Add Apps". It will be available below in the App Center, and can be opened by clicking the tab to open.
