Video Visits

Last Updated: Sep 29, 2017 01:43PM CDT

FollowMyHealth™ allows for patients to be able to request a video visit with your provider. This is just like visiting your provider, except in video form. Be sure to check with your connected organization to see if they have video visits available. Here are some FAQs about video visits:

Q: What is a Video Visit?
A: A Video Visit is like an in-person visit, except done through a webcam. Once logged in to your FollowMyHealth account, request a Video Visit. You can do this from the main menu on your mobile device or on the home page if viewing on your desktop. Once selected, confirm the details of your visit, and go to the virtual waiting room. Your clinician will start the visit when it’s your turn.

Q: When can I request a Video Visit?
A: You can request a Video Visit Monday through Friday from XX a.m. to XX p.m. (Check with your organization on times this is available)
Remember: This is not for life-threatening illnesses or injuries

Q: What symptoms do you treat?
A: We treat quite a few symptoms! Here’s a quick list.
Allergies
Back Pain
Bronchitis and Pneumonia
Cardiovascular Disease
Cellulitis and Skin Infections
Colds, Coughs, Congestion, Conjunctivitis
Headache / Migraine
Influenza
Rashes and Skin Conditions
Sinus Infections
Sports Injuries
 Sprains and bruises
Urinary Tract Infections
Vomiting and Diarrhea

Q: How is care delivered?
A: Video Visits occur via webcam. Your clinician develops a treatment plan. When appropriate, a prescription is ordered. It's the same quality of care as if you were in the office.

Q: Can my child be treated?
A: Yes. We offer Video Visits for children 2 years of age and older

Q: How much will the service cost?
A: Video visits are $50.

Q: How long can I expect my Video Visit to take?
A: Visits are generally 10-15 minutes once started.

Q: If I have any issues connecting during the Video Visit, how do I get help?
A: Our support team has you covered! You can reach them by giving your practice a call. They will direct you to the appropriate team to assist.

Q: Is my personal health information secure and protected during a Video Visit?
A: Yes. Video Visits use secure video conferencing technology developed for medical care. The software’s security and confidentiality protocols meet the requirements of HIPAA. Your Video Visit is also not recorded. After the visit, you will receive a secure message with a summary of your care instructions.

Q: How do I request a Video Visit?
A: Log in to your FollowMyHealth account via our mobile app or on your browser. Select “Start a Video Visit.” You can do this from the main menu on your mobile device or on the home page if viewing on your desktop. Once selected, confirm the details of your visit, and go to the virtual waiting room. Your clinician will start the visit when it’s your turn.

Q: What do I need for Video Visits other than a camera and microphone?
A: For the best experience, use your FollowMyHealth mobile app (either iOS or Android). On desktop, we recommend using Chrome or Firefox as your browser. You can use Internet Explorer or Safari, but you will be asked to download a plugin. You will also have a better experience with high-speed internet. Once you select "Start a Video Visit," prompts will guide you through the setup process.

Q: Can I get a prescription from a Video Visit?
A: When appropriate, yes. Your clinician will determine a best course of action just like an in-person visit. Controlled substances will not be ordered without an in-person visit.

Q: What happens if I need to have blood drawn or some other test?
A: A lab can be ordered. Often times, prescriptions can be made based on the lab results.
